WWII Patriotic Covers: Artists for Victory Series         The multicolored Artists for Victory perforated labels, or "poster stamps" as they were sometimes called, were produced in sheets containing all 50 labels by Ever Ready Label Corp. of New York City. The artwork on the labels was selected from 200 posters (out of 2,243 submitted by artists) that appeared in an exhibition at the Modern Museum of Art. Cacheted covers with the labels have one of two different borders printed on the envelope. A dark blue frame was produced by George W. Linn, while a lighter blue frame by Dorothy Knapp (on the covers being sold by me) was produced by Paul F. Goldstein (both are shown below). The covers I'm selling are quite unusual (and more valuable) as someone has carefully hand-colored all of the light blue borders.         It is very difficult today to find a complete or near complete series of all 50 envelopes and when you do, the price is often outrageous. Even individual covers are being sold by dealers such as Brookman for $40 and up (and entire sets for $2,000+).           What I have for sale is 49 Artists for Victory covers with 43 different labels. Of the 43 different, 41 are unaddressed (a REAL rarity in 1944) and 2 are addressed. There are also two covers with the Linn's border (#14 and #33) and four additional addressed covers. (The 7 missing covers are nos. 8, 23, 28, and 46 to 49.) Instead of selling these covers for the going price of $40 per cover, I am selling them for the giveaway price of $13 for each of the 41 unaddressed covers, $9 for each of the other 4 covers, and giving you the 4 addressed covers FREE for a grand total of $569 postpaid and insured to any address in the USA.         I have this one set only.
