2011 USMC Toys for Tots Train
Special Information for Rail Enthusiasts

      In 2010, four railroads assisted on the Toys for Tots Train project. The train made 12 scheduled stops and collected more than 11,000 toys for the Toys for Tots program of U.S. Marine Company G, 2nd Battalion, 25th Marines at Picatinny Arsenal, Dover, NJ.
      Again in 2011 with the help of NJ Transit, Norfork Southern, Morristown & Erie, and Susquehanna Railroads, the train will make 12 or 13 stops: Saturday, Dec. 10 on the NY Susquehanna & Western line and on Sunday, Dec. 11 on the High Bridge and D&R branches of the Morristown & Erie Railway.
      On Friday, Dec. 9, the train will deadhead in mid-afternoon from the M&E yard in Morristown to the Susquehanna line in Saddle Brook via M&E tracks and NJ Transit Morristown and Main/Bergen County lines. N-S crew H-02 will use Dover-based locomotive NS-3030 to make this move.
      On Saturday, Dec. 10, the train will follow the schedule on the schedule page from Little Ferry (8:15 a.m.) to Butler (3:00 p.m.). The train will consist of either an N-S or Susquehanna locomotive, and M&E equipment: Ohio River coach/sleeper/kitchen car #2001, Birken dining car #2003, camo boxcar #1775, and caboose #100. After 8 toy pickup stops, the train will deadhead from Saddle Brook to Morristown between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m.
      On Sunday, Dec. 11, the train will deadhead from Morristown (Baker) to Chester Junction at 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. During the day, it will follow the schedule on the schedule page from Flanders (10:00 a.m.) to Rockaway (2:30 p.m.). At 3:30 p.m., it will depart Rockaway for the D&R Junction. Shortly after, it will deadhead from the D&R Junction to Morristown on NJ Transit and M&E trackage arriving Morristown by 5:00 p.m.
